Repricing because ouch!
Price Increase
So I did the math on the zine, and I have to raise the price a little.
Here’s the price breakdown per 6 issues
| Price of 6 paper issues | $5.00 |
| Price of US Postage Stamps for 6 issues | $3.30 |
| ______ | |
| Price charged for a subscription | $8.30 |
| Shopify / Credit Card Fees | -$0.54 |
| ______ | |
| Net received in my bank account | $7.76 |
| Cost of postage | -$3.30 |
| ______ | |
| Profit after Postage | $4.46 |
| Laser Toner ink. $0.53 x 6 = $3.18 | -$3.18 |
| ______ | |
| Profit after ink | 1.28 |
| Cost of Envelopes: $0.10 x 6 = $0.60 | -$0.60 |
| ______ | |
| Profit after envelopes | $0.68 |
| Cost of paper $0.05 * 6 = $0.20 | -$0.20 |
| ______ | |
| Profit after paper | $0.48 |
So at least I cover my costs (ha ha ha not counting labor— but that is another story)
Anyway, if for 6 zines I make $0.48, then for each zine I make 0.48/6 = $0.08.
So I am just about breaking even on costs.
If I were to raise the per-issue profits to 0.25 cents, I would have to raise each issue’s price by 0.25-0.08 = 0.17.
For six issues this would be 0.17x6 = 1.02.
So I will pad a little to 1.10, and as such I will change the price to 6.10 for 6 issues. Yay.
I hope you have enjoyed this mathiness.
